Balmaseda Holy Week Museum
Santa Clara convent
¿Te gusta este sitio?
Built in 1675, the Santa Clara complex comprises a former convent of nuns, a preceptor’s house and a church. The convent shut down in 1985 and was later transformed into the fabulous San Roque hotel. The church has been preserved and now houses a museum devoted to Holy Week themes. A striking procession walks across town every year and culminates in a touching Crucifixion represented by a neighbour. This interpretation centre hides some of the most representative Holy Week items – such as meticulously prepared clothing, galleries or information boards. The visitor will marvel at the magnificent altarpieces as well, not to mention a 18th-century organ and a great many antiques.
