On the 14th of September, the municipality of Güeñes will be hosting a new edition of the Paper Dress Competition, showcasing an authentic display of artistic genius on paper that will be open to the public.

The competition is renowned for its high standards. The dresses, which are original and crafted entirely from paper, can be sewn by hand or machine and, if necessary, reinforced with friseline. The use of glue, staples, or any other means of attachment or reinforcement is prohibited. Following the competition, the dresses will be permanently displayed in the Arenatzarte Sculpture Park.

The Güeñes competition holds a prestigious position as one of the first and most prestigious competitions of its kind in the country. Its inaugural edition took place in 1958, initiated by the town itself as a tribute to and recognition of the textile and papermaking tradition of Enkarterri.
