Located in the heart of the mining area, the Meatzaldea-Peñas Negras ekoetxea is an environmental information and awareness raising center managed by the Department of Environment and Territorial Policy of the Basque Government.

It constitutes a strategic point of observation of a wide landscape arch, key to appreciate the changes that the landscape has undergone as a consequence of the mining activity.

The content of this exhibition space revolves around iron ore as an environmental resource, history of the Bizkaia mining basin, its population centers, fauna, flora, etc. Outside it has an exhibition of restored pieces of old mining operations.
